My sink is shining! .. sort of. As shiny as I am going to get it this evening. I think I’ll go back and use some stronger chemicals at some point, but by sink is empty and the clean dishes are put away and that’s what really matters to me. Ever since I’ve accomplished my “Doing December Daily” Challenge, I’ve had more confidence that I’ll be able to stick with the BabySteps. Previously, I would always fall off the wagon while attempting the BabySteps and I had an especially difficult time because I was flying at not at home most of the time.
My mom and sister were supposed to come over today, but they woke up too late to come over and visit. Which was fine because Ellie and I decided to go on a shopping adventure with my grandmother and the aunties. Eleanor was having a blast walking all over the mall. I’ve hardly taken her out to places that are so large and filled with so many people, so it was kind of a shock for her. She really was enjoying herself though. We got the 20 cookies for $21 at Cookie Corner today. So awesome.
I also finally opened our huge bag of rice today. Honestly, we don’t eat rice daily like most families in Hawaii, but it seems like such a waste to only buy small bags of rice. So I bought a Costco 25lb bag and put them into these pretzel containers as storage. Fun fact, one 25lb bag fits almost perfectly into these two containers. So save these containers if you’re making those ranch pretzels for Christmas gifts.
My silly girl has been doing so well these past few days putting herself to sleep on her own. I’ll lie down with her in the dark for a few minutes after reading her a story and turning off the lights, but once she starts playing around, I leave the room. I tell her, “Good night Eleanor, I love you, I’ll see you tomorrow morning.” And she’s been sleeping on her own! BUT last night, after I got out of the shower, I noticed she had taken off her diaper! So I snuck in and quickly put a new diaper on while she was drowsy and before she could fully wake up. Tonight, while she was playing, she took a training panty out of her drawer and got it stuck on her head. She stayed at the door crying and whining for a few minutes before I came in and took it off for her. She’s so funny.

January 16, 2021 – I am so thankful for coming across FlyLady’s website a long time ago. And I am also grateful for the grace I’ve given myself to start the process over time and again. Previously I think I’ve really done the process half-heartedly and I want to change that this time around. I also would always try to skip ahead during the process and I would burn out. This time I will take my time, do my best, and hold myself accountable for the good habits I’m trying to develop.
