Doing December Daily #12

December Daily Gratitude #12:
Today I’m thankful for my Nail Tech License, education and everyone who supported me while I flew and went to night school. Especially Ms. Rina and Sara. Without them, I wouldn’t have been able to achieve my goal of getting my nail license while flying at the same time.

I remember my mom getting her nail license when I was younger and I always thought that it was really smart of her to have a second career lined up just in case being a flight attendant didn’t work out. And let me tell you, there were a few times in her career that we were a little worried that she might actually have to start doing nails.

I’ve always loved having cute nails, and I remember just absolutely going crazy when I studied abroad in Japan, because there were so many cute nail supplies everywhere. So after I became a flight attendant myself, (and finished my Asian Studies degree at UH.. which is another story I’ll save for later) I decided that I would try to get my nail tech license too. I learned SO much from the entire process, and am so grateful for my educators and family who supported me.

I always thought that nails would be a quick career change if I ever needed it. Never did I think, hey a pandemic that keeps everyone home would actually be a slight hurdle for my possible business. But in all honesty, I’m not in a season of life that I can actually grow my nail career. Nathan’s business is flourishing and I’m just supportive wife and mommy right now. Maybe when the kids are older I can revisit my nail business.

Day #12: Rest and Nails
I actually didn’t feel very well today. Honestly fifty percent of the time I thought I had indigestion, the other fifty percent I thought it was just baby moving. And baby was moving a lot! And because Eleanor has been fighting her naps like never before, I asked Nate to watch her for a little bit so I could nap. I really needed it, and felt so much better afterwards.

Then Eleanor and I ran a bunch of errands this evening before dinner. And after Eleanor went to bed, I treated myself to some neutral holiday nails. I actually was just going to paint some very aggressive red glitter and call it a day, but something made me do something a little more subtle. It’s so hard to do Christmas nails sometimes because I just want to do ALL the designs and ALL the techniques.. but I’ve only got 10 nails.
