So I broke down and spent money today :(. I knew it was coming, but I didn’t think that I was going to spend as much money as I ended up spending. Basically, we shelf-cooked for most of December and January so our pantry was becoming a little bare. And with the way things are going in the world (I really don’t know what’s going to happen), but in any case, it’s possible that we will be in a lockdown again. And it’s Hawaii so there will be limited resources and access to everything, so Nathan and I decided it was time to restock our pantry. And about a million dollars later at Sam’s Club, we’ll pick up our groceries the day after tomorrow.
My mom and sister came to visit us today and Ellie had a blast. And my mom treated us to Popeye’s chicken sandwiches (Yum!). Then in the afternoon Ellie went to water plants with my dad. And we went to eat McDonald’s for dinner. I feel super guilty not cooking tonight, but I used the time I spent not cooking, doing a freezer and fridge inventory and planning out what groceries we were going to stock up on. I’m sooooo exhausted and it took way longer than I thought it was going to. But I’m glad it’s done.
Maybe for a Barbie costume? Yikes.
January 11, 2021 – Today I’m thankful for having a savings. My parents always taught me to save my money, and today I was grateful that we were able to buy food for our family for the future.
